Thanks to everyone who sent me suggestions for books about wants/needs. I
actually think this would be a good topic for one of our authors to
address. There doesn't seem to be much out there. Below is my original
target and the few suggestions I received. Thanks!

I had a 2nd grade teacher send me a note this afternoon asking me for a
book about wants/needs. I assume she wants to teach her children the
difference between the two. Do you have any ideas for some picture books
that would address this?

How about The Little Red Hen?
A little abstract, but maybe.

The quiltmaker's gift
and, although it sounds silly, there's a Arthur sticker book called
Glasses for D.W. that works well too.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett.
Hilarious. People have to leave their homes, and take only the "absolute
necessities."
I always have the kids determine the difference between Needs and wants.

not directly, but it's about wanting too much/ being content with what you
have. Patricia Polacco has retold The Fisherman's Wife as Luba and the
Wren. I've had wonderful success with it as a readaloud in 2nd and 3rd.
