Thank you to all who responded to my query about the number of classes that come to the library weekly. The range is amazing. I haven't had enough time to review all of the emails. I've been asked for a compilation, but that will take some time. It's interesting to see the different uses of a media specialist's time. It's too bad so few administrators, schools and teacher's associations know what a valuable resource we are. In too many cases, we're seen as cheap babysitters and the solution to teachers' planning time needs. Interestingly, many of us don't (in reality) get the same amount of planning time that teachers do and we not only teach every student in the building, but also manage a facility filled with resources and often have to handle all the technology and computer lab needs as well. I wish there was an answer to the question: "How will we ever get our profession the respect it deserves in a time of testing, testing, testing and reduced budgets?" It's nice to know that we have each other's support and best wishes.
