A teacher in my building is looking for a story she remembers from her childhood.... A statue of a prince is in a courtyard. A bird visits the statue and sits on it. The statue is old and lonely and no one ever comes to see it except the bird. The bird tells the statue that people in the village are starving and the statue says "Pluck the stone from my eye" and sell it to help the people. As time passes the statue becomes more and more decrepit and the bird remains its only visitor. Does anyone recognize this?? Thanks for any help. ************************************** Caryn Werlin Bridge School Library 55 Middleby Rd.
