Original Question:

Greetings-
I have a 4th grade teacher looking for fiction books that correspond with
the science units. Something in high 4th or 5th grade reading level for the
students to read or a higher reading level but 4th grade interest level for
a read aloud. The topics include: electricity, forces/simple machines, rocks
and minerals and plants. I loved The Edison Mystery by Gutman for
electricity and Jean Craighead George's The Missing Gator of Gumbo Limbo for
plants (and so much more!) I am stumped for the other topics. Any ideas?

Responses:

"Doyle and Fossey, Science Detectives" series by Michele Torrey

Everybody Needs a Rock by Byrd Baylor.

Einstein Anderson series by Seymour Simon

Top Secret, by John Reynolds Gardiner would also be good for plants

I don't have any specific titles for you, but I do suggest you try Follett's
Titlewave Curriculum Development feature. This is free and you would be
able to enter your topic and then limit results to grade level and Fiction.
Should help generate titles.
