We have decided to move our automation program over to Destiny. I have completed
the paperwork for Follett and mailed the checklists (for compatibility, record
information, tag changes, etc.) and we are preparing for inventory (weeding) in a
couple of weeks.
After the weeding, we will be sending our collection information to Follett for a
"good cleaning" and enhancement.
For those of you who have already migrated to Destiny, what problems did you have
with your collection once Follett receive it? Did you have problems with any of
their changes? Were there other areas that were difficult for you? How was
"learning the system" compared to Circ / Cat Plus? (The biggest issue for the
librarians here seems to be learning the new system....my biggest fear is the
catalog records not being correct and the entire cataloging staff at Follett
sending them back to us with a note that we should "stick with the 3x5 cards!!) I
believe I will then be asked by the school to "re-write" the catalog records----
all 41,000 of them!!!
I am preparing our librarians for "the final frontier" of automation (or probably
the last program change before they retire), so I'd like to make sure that there
aren't major headaches, if I can help it.
