My original post was:

Does anyone have any must-have suggestions (if you could only buy 3-5)
for Graphic Novels for the High School and Middle School library? I have
a few in each building, but I am budgeting to create a collection at
both buildings. Please send responses to the following e-mail account:
meggen@cameron.k12.wi.us. I have visited ALA's lists at
<http://www.ala.org/ala/booklist/speciallists/speciallistsandfeatures3/r
e>
http://www.ala.org/ala/booklist/speciallists/speciallistsandfeatures3/re
<http://www.ala.org/ala/booklist/speciallists/speciallistsandfeatures3/r
eferenceonweb/graphicnovels.htm> ferenceonweb/graphicnovels.htm and
LM_NET's archive for more resource sites and many suggestions, but what
I want to know is what graphic novel titles are really being checkout
and are having students rave in the hallways. I am trying to actually
create a fan base in my district.

Thank you for all those that responded. Here is the list of Graphic
Novels that seem to be the most popular with students:

HS: Fray by Josh Whedon, Maus by Art Spiegelman, Courtney Crumrin and
the Night Things by Ted Naifeh

HS: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Spider Man, & the Fantastic Four

MS: The Hobbit, Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter, Tokyo Mew-Mew series (manga)

Hikaru No Go is a great series about a young teen boy who likes to play
a game called GO. He can see and hear an ancient GO master, who is
obsessed with the game. Both my middle and high schoolers love this one!

My Middle School students love the Buddha series by Osamu Tezuka.
There's some violence and the tiniest bit of non-gratuitous nudity ...
but it's a wonderful series full of historical and cultural relevance.

Manga
Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series
usagai yojimbo (all)=20
greek and roman mythology (vol. 1, 2, 3) vol 1 isbn:9810522401=20
Ranma 1/2=20
biography graphic novels which have been a hit for our middle and upper
schoolers. one of them is:
Elizabeth I; Rob Shone 1404202463; we also have Julius Ceasar, Hernan
Cortez, Harriet Tubman.=20
