Thanks to all who responded to my question regarding the proper reading order of 
the books in Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley series. Apparently vol. 4, 
Suitable Vengeance, is something of a prequel to the rest of the volumes and could 
logically be read first, followed by the rest of the volumes in order. This piece

I passed this tip along to my friend, who was very appreciative of all your help. 
Personally, I've never read any of these books, but you all had so many wonderful 
things to say about George's writing that I can't wait to begin reading her books!
