About the teacher in the Appalachians who did a chapter by chapter description of her students.. Many of you suggested Catherine Marshall's Christy, which certainly does sound like my summary, but I'm familiar with that sweet story and movies, so that's not it. I believe those of you who suggested that it was Jesse Stuart's The Thread That Runs So True are probably right, although the cover I found online doesn't fit my mind's eye view, the words and description and time frame sound right. I'm going to order it to find out for sure. Thanks for helping!
