Thank you to everyone who has responded. I think my assistant is going to proceed.
Especially after she had contacted several people who are currently in the
program.

Below are some of the responses. Again, thanks for helping us out.

Hello:

I have written and had published 39 books for children and adults.

I do not believe you should pay anyone, school or other, to publish what you have
written.

I did do the program, but unfortunately I couldn't handle all the red
marks and criticism ( however well given ). I was much younger and
thought I was so much better. I will say that the author you are given is
very helpful and it is beneficial. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Hi! My daughter is enrolled with them and has liked the response that
she got. I have been at writers conferences where the published writers
have mentioned ICL favorably. Your assistant has an excellent advisor.
Vicki Grove is the author of several well-known books for 4th grade on
up. I am thinking about enroll sometime in the future. Good Luck and
enjoy. Sally Carpenter

May I suggest she get a copy of WRITER'S MARKET or CHILDRENS WRITER"S MARKET.
Either will give her a good idea of who is buying what, when, wetc., and will also
give their requirements.

The trick is writing and submitting, after you have determined if the market is
interested in what you have written or are about to write.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.........DX FENTEN

Brenda, Please post a hit! My nephew has just done the same thing, and I
wasn't too encouraging because I suspect it's a scam. They told him the
same thing as your assistant to the letter. They also gave him no feedback
on his story except to tell him it was "acceptable" in all four areas
(whatever they were.)
Thanks!
Nancy

Send her to this message board thread about them; many writers who've dealt
with them have posted here about them. Then she can make an informed
decision on her own. I wish her luck. Writing is the best job ever!!

Why doesn't your assistant write to Vicki Grove and ask her?

Post replies if you get any. I have seen advertising for this company for
many years and have wondered if it was on the up and up, and not just a
self-publishing venue where the author bears the expense of publishing his
own book!
