Hi. I am currently an elementary teacher of gifted students pursuing an add-on in media certification. I recently interviewed for a media specialist job in a beautiful high school located in Northwest Georgia. I was impressed by the media specialist there and with the many activities that go on in the media center. Students conduct research and work in the computer lab, which are two of my strongest and most enjoyable areas. I loved how it was a busy place. The media specialist was involved with assisting students and collaborating with faculty members. She also had come from an elementary media center. I would be employed as a second media specialist. I think that I would enjoy having her as a mentor due to our similar educational philosophies. Whether I get this job or consider future high school positions, I would like to hear from any of you that have made similar transitions and what your feelings are about the differences.
