Hi everyone!

I am a graduate student in a School Library Media Specialist program. I have been
researching school library automation systems for one of my courses. I have found
so many companies with software and I have read lists of systems used around the
world. But I am curious what systems are used in the United States by K-12 schools.
Could everyone quickly complete the following questions and send them back to me?
I would really appreciate the information. Thank you in advance for your help.

1. What school library automation system are you currently using?

2. What company produces that automation system?

3. How many years have you used that system?

3. Please list the parts of the system you currently utilize such as: circulation,
cataloging, inventory, MARC records, overdue notices, OPAC, and statistical reports?

4. Is there a security system built into this automation system?

5. What types of hardware were required for your automation system?

6. Any idea how much the system costs annually?

7. Has the support/help services been helpful and useful for you?

8. Did the company provide you with the steps required in the process of
automating? Can anyone e-mail me a copy of those procedures at:
khofstead@twcny.rr.com, please?

And one additional question for everyone. Do any of your districts have an
"Instructional Technologist" position? How would this position be used or how has
this position been used within the school library setting?

Thank you again for your assistance with this topic.
