My library is for grades K-6. I am in the process of moving many books.
It has occurred to me that the 398.2s are more difficult to locate
simply because of the added numbers to the right of the decimal point.
It is difficult for me to remember why something is in .21 or .22, for
example. No wonder it is difficult for me to get this concept explained
to the students, particularly the younger ones. And they are the ones
who use the folk tales more than anyone else!

Would it be reasonable of me to simplify the classification all of the
398.2+added digits to simply be 398.2. That would mean 1 alphabet
rather than 4-5.

I'd appreciate the guidance of this good group.

In advance, I thank you. Please reply to me off the list.
