Personally, I am going the other direction with my 398s, and adding the full
extension. The digits after the decimal serve a purpose, after all. They further
sort into type of tale, country of origin, etc. By extending the digits past the
decimal, all of the French folktales will be together, all of the German, all of
the Chinese, etc, as will the dragon stories, the ghost stories, the King Arthur
stories, etc.

I did the same with my holiday books which previously were all 394. With the full
extension, all Valentines books are together, all Christmas books, etc., and they
shelve in order of occurrence during the year, so January holidays are first, etc.
