Hello all!

Please pardon my inexperience in this area, but I would like to venture into
the realm of "blogging" or creating a community forum where my students and
I can interact over the summer regarding their book selections summer
reading. I think it would be a cool way to encourage participation in their
local library programs and to discuss any great books they've found and
would like added to our collection. However, being a newbie in this
particular area, I'd like to know the locations of some user-friendly
websites to aid in the process. Since I'm encouraging the parents to
monitor and participate as well, it needs to be on a "safe" and relatively
commercial free area (or at least one that doesn't advertise inappropriately
for a K-6 population). Any ideas? Any educational sites that allow
professionals the space to do this for a minimal fee?

Thanks so much. I know the education weight of the literary masses will
guide my way! :-)
