I too would "close" the library to checkout the last two weeks of school. It bothered me to not allow "checkout". Someone mentioned book swaps. I took the idea and did a 1 for 1 paperback swap. The students could bring in a paperback and take away a paperback. I seeded the table with freebies from Scholastic and classroom libraries. It soothed my soul to have "checkout". The students (and parents) thought it was great to get a new-to-them paperback. I didn't do any book keeping. It was the honor system. I did go through daily and pull "junk". -- Kate Stirk, Librarian North Metro Technical College; Acworth, GA, USA 17 years a Media Specialist in Central Florida KateStirk@comcast.net View from the Library (BLOG) http://northmetrotechlibraryatacworth.blogspot.com/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
