I recently started working as a "librarian consultant" for a public charter school
with grades K-8. The collection, assembled over the past 4 to 5 years by parent
volunteers, has never been cataloged (no spine labels or dewey numbers) and is
separated by grade levels, so that fiction for 6th-8th is in one room, while the
fiction for grades 3-5 are in another room. I have recently purchased Alexandria,
and I am cataloging, labeling and re-arranging the books into Dewey order. My
question is, for those of you who manage a K - 8 collection, do you integrate all
the fiction together, or do you separate it by maturity level or reading level? I
will continue to keep as a separate area all the "E", or picture books.

I've already pretty much decided to integrate all non-fiction and reference,
regardless of reading level. But the fiction is still up for discussion.

Thanks,
