Thank you to my fellow LM_NETTERS who kindly e-mailed me to support my recent post 
about New Orleans.  I remember describing New Orleans as a lovely place, just not a 
place I want to be in the summer.  I did receive a few "touchy" responses--even one 
from an ALA administrator-- accusing me of insensitivity to the city of New 
Orleans.  

My apologies to anyone who felt I was slamming New Orleans.  I certainly did not do 
that.  I simply wanted to share my experience so that  prospective ALA attendees 
might be better informed than I was.  The heat and humidity of New Orleans in the 
summer of 1999 had a major negative impact on my ability to explore and enjoy the 
city as I was attending ALA.  That was the only message I wanted to send.
