TEACHING INFORMATION LITERACY WITH PRIMARY SOURCES

This course focuses on the examination and integration of 
primary resources with the K-12 curriculum to enhance 
content knowledge and as a tool to help students acquire 
information literacy and fluency.  Topics include a 
rationale for using primary sources to stimulate creativity 
and higher order thinking, formulating questions, creating 
engaged learning activities, and teaching students research 
strategies. Course projects include developing classroom 
lessons and planning partnership activities with museums. 
Course content and activities are appropriate for all 
curricular areas.

ADVOCACY AND EMERGING ISSUES FOR MEDIA SPECIALISTS

Designed for experienced or practicing K-12 school media 
specialists to discuss the critical issues facing the school 
library media profession. Develop practical strategies for 
coping with and impacting change, data collection and use, 
becoming a staff development leader in technology 
integration, and developing advocacy and outreach programs 
for the school library media center.
