2nd call...

In case you missed this the first time...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello LM-NETers!

Would YOU like to be an "S.O.S. High School Pioneer"??

If you would like to be part of the highly-recognized, national project S.O.S. for
Information Literacy, which brings the very best informational literacy lesson
plans to educators, then keep reading*

"S.O.S. for Information Literacy" is a project, funded by the Institute of Museum &
Library Services (IMLS), to create a national K-12 multimedia database of
information literacy lesson plans and related teaching materials for library media
specialists and others who teach these important skills.

The K-8 version of S.O.S. was launched last October at the AASL national
conference. We recently received funding to extend S.O.S. to the high school and
college levels. We are hoping you will help build this tremendous, free resource
for the professional library media specialist.

As a HS Pioneer, you will be asked to contribute two of your best information
literacy lesson plans to the S.O.S. database within the next six months. The lesson
plan must be "tried n' true," that is, a lesson you have already successfully
taught, and must include all of the information required by the S.O.S. template. We
invite you to visit the K-8 S.O.S. site at http://www.informationliteracy.org to
get an idea of what information is included in each lesson plan.

Once we have the first 100 lesson plans in the database, we will provide you with
exclusive access to the database as it develops. Some Pioneers will also be invited
to participate in other S.O.S. activities, such as our Advisory Board, Progressive
Feedback Panel, and Reviewer Team . The database will be password-protected, with
only Pioneers having access, until we officially launch the high school site,
sometime in spring 2008.

If you currently work in a high school library and would like to be part of the
S.O.S. Pioneers, please contact Donna Boyce at dmboyce@syr.edu asap with the
following information:

Your Name
Email
School Name
School Location (city and state)
Grade Span
# Years Experience as LMS

If you decide to be an S.O.S. HS Pioneer and send the required information to
Donna, we'll contact you in the next two weeks to tell you next steps. We look
forward to an exciting future as we work together to create the nation's premier
information literacy resource!
