I'll turn this around a bit, if I may. I vividly remember an
interview lo, these many years ago, when I was told I wasn't
"suitable" for the job (school librarian) because............(wait
for it)......... "Men aren't supposed to be librarians. Women are
librarians. <pause> Is there something we should know about
you?" I walked out of that particular interview. Stereotypes cut
both ways. Someone earlier said that fizz and bubbles don't last
long. Very true, and I think 'playing a role' all the time against
your nature isn't in your, or your employer's, best
interests. Obviously, if you are extremely dour or hostile, you
aren't going to be successful as a school librarian. But after a
while, 'bubbly' can get really old. And kids are very adept at
picking up on the false heartiness of adults.

Just my 57 cents worth.
