Hi everyone! I need your help once again... My assistant principal is working on a protected book list project for our district and asked me for some help. She is looking for a resource to use independently (at home and at school) that will give her suggested grade levels for books. For example, she wants to know if The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is suitable for a 9th grade reading list or would be more appropriate for an 11th grade one. (Note...This administrator has a science background, so she doesn't know the plot of most of these books.) Is there a reputable and dependable source out there where you can simply type in the title and author of a book, and it gives you the suggested grade and/or reading level? I realize that this kind of information can be found in professional journal reviews, but she is hoping for some sort of "catch-all" source that will have all the information she will need in one place! On another note....We are a large public high school with no access to any kind of reading program (AR, Reading Counts, etc.) Someone had suggested we just use those programs, but we do not use them here at our school. I would really appreciate any help you could offer! Thanks! :) Heidi Pruitt Media Specialist Belton-Honea Path High School 11000 Belton Honea Path Highway Honea Path, SC 29654 864-369-7382 hpruitt@anderson2.k12.sc.us -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
