Interesting article...then of course there are those verbal
eggcorns.... I constantly hear children, particularly kinders,
talking about their 'pack pack' instead of back pack. There are
really loads of them out there... think about when you hear kiddos
saying the pledge...or at Christmas time..."Round John Virgin'! We
assume that everyone knows the correct way to say things (and write
things) but I am reminded daily that this isn't the case. Of course,
these written eggcorns probably come from mis-hearing to begin with!

My daughter in law tells the story of our granddaughter asking her
what a virgin was...mom stopped for a second and thought...well we
just had Christmas, maybe that is where her question came from. She
then asks our granddaughter, 'how did you hear it used?'

"Well," said granddaughter, "daddy just read us a story but said it
was a different virgin that when was little'! :-)
