[LM_NET] TARGET: Concentration span research

I know I am asking a lot of questions right now but I am tutoring beginning 
teachers at University
in literacy development and I am trying to base what I offer on sound pedagogy.  
Somewhere I heard
or read that a child's concentration span is their age + 3 minutes.  I've done some 
Google searching
but can't find the actual research so if you can help that would help enormously.
