Hi- Thank you for your quick and extremely useful replies! Several people asked for a hit, so I'll let everyone know what I learned. It is, indeed, possible to download MARC records from a Mac platform. Apparently, many people were told at one point that you had to have a Windows platform to download from LOC. The key appears to be which browser you use. One person suggested using Opera, which is free to download. I also had success using Firefox, which is also a free download. When I tried it with Safari, it didn't work. Once I was using a compatible browser, the rest was easy (after reading the instructions from my colleagues). I created a folder on the desktop, saved the files from LOC as mrc1.txt, etc. Then, I opened Alexandria and imported those files. When I tried the same thing using files downloaded from Safari, I came up with empty records. If you need more information on how to make this work for you, please e-mail me directly.
