I agree with Jean, but I did look up some statistics:
The LOC website says it's the biggest library in the world, with "more
than 130 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves."
However, the British Library page says it has 150 million items. I also
found a Computers in Libraries article which says that "With over 40
million volumes, the Russian State Library (RSL, formerly the Lenin
Library) is the largest library in Europe and the second largest in the

But 40 million is obviously a smaller number than 150, so...is this
ranking on collection size, building size, circulation stats?
Does anybody know?
