[LM_NET] OT: Advice sought on visit to Colorado

I am seeking advice on our planned holiday visit to Colorado for my
family of 4 Australians who will arrive Jan 22 into Denver. Most
probably stay somewhere around Breckenridge for three nights before
heading to Utah.

Please reply off list.

We will be making our way to San Diego by car from Denver.

I am seeking the following information:

A reasonable place to stay in Denver overnight 

Planning a few nights at possibly Breckenridge for family to snow mobile
& learn to ski

Plan to cross over Rockies to Gunnison - is this road passable in Jan or
am I better to take the highway through Vail?

Is the Royal Gorge worth a visit and is highway 9 down to it from
Breckenridge passable at that time?

Place to stay at Breckenridge?

Anything else that is a must to see/experience?
