[LM_NET] Share: Book Review The Shadow Thieves

If your kids are looking or more books like the PERCY JACKSON series,
I recommend THE SHADOW THIEVES by Anne Ursu (Atheneum, 2006. 424p.).
Thirteen-year-old Charlotte and her British cousin, Zachary (Zee for
short), realize that they have been inadvertently involved in a scheme
to overthrow Hades and take over the Underworld. Philonecron, an evil
Underworld mastermind has discovered how to steal the shadows from
living children. Using some blood taken from Zee while he was
sleeping, Phil plots to animate the shadow people and rise up against
Hades. But in order to this, he needs to lure Zee to the Underworld to
speak the words that will bring the shadow army to life. Zee and
Charlotte go together to try to stop Philonecron's evil plan. Some of
the Underworld scenes are creepy and may be scary for younger kids, so
I recommend this book for grades 6 and up. This is Book One of a
series that promises to attract many devoted fans.
