[LM_NET] Science Fiction Title for Elementary School?

I'm preparing to teach and elementary library materials selection course next 
semester, and I'd like to add a science fiction title to the reading list.  The 
class covers materials for K-8, but I'd really like to use something for the middle 
or lower grades, and preferably something short (they'll be reading Chabon's 
Summerland that week, too, which is 500+ pages).
 
Any suggestions?  I'm drawing a blank.
