my ninth grade son whose reading comprehension level is way below all other
language abilities loved this novel.

I have just finished reading MAUS written by Art Spiegelman. This isnt the first
graphic novel i have read but the first based on an historical event. The author
writes of his father's memories of being a Jew in Poland, how his father and mother
survived from 1939 to after the war in the Unites States.
This novel would be good to use to give first hand knowledge of the trials and
tribulations of the Polish Jews during Nazi occupation. I think even a better
account then the diary of Anne Frank since the father told his story to his son the
author and creator of MAUS.
I am looking to reading the second book to MAUS.
I am not totally sold on graphic novels but i think there is room for them in oour
libraries.
