In my building we are asked not to wear perfumes or scented lotions out of respect
for those who are scent sensitive.

Using the candle warmers is a great idea and some in my building use them.
I don't use any type of scent in the library as a few years ago the scent from a
candle set off a coughing fit in a teacher and because of allergy and asthma
problems she could hardly breathe. That same person had to start sitting in a
different place at church because of a certain girl's perfume and she said I can't
even hug the girl anymore or get close to her because it makes me sick. So while
scents are wonderful, we need to be aware that if very strong that they can be
offensive to those around and there are lots of people out there with allergies and
asthma.
We've even had some children in our building that opted not to have one on one,
"read to" time, with an assistant and they revealed to another adult that they
couldn't stand the perfume she wore. Believe me I can hardly stand when she comes
to the library either.
