[LM_NET] HIT: Book title?

Thank you so much to everyone who responded!  
My original post:
 A 45 year old teacher asked if I could help him remember a book he read in high 
school.  It was about a family moving out west and the final line of the book goes 
something like this, "And the man died with his eyes facing west."  Any help would 
be greatly appreciated! 

The answer is Giants in the Earth by O.E. Rolvaag. Thank you again!!!!!
