[LM_NET] TAR: finding children's book title

Hello,
 
Perhaps you can help? I friend e-mailed me and is looking for a copy or title of 
the book he remembered as a kid. The copyright is somewhere around the 70s I'd 
guess, or maybe late 60s?, and the mian character is a boy who invents things to 
keep people put of his room. One thing he does remember is there was a machanical 
arm over the door with a boxing glove that would prevent people from entering (or 
maybe hit them?)
 
If you recall this title I would be most grateful!
