[LM_NET] TARGET: Looking for book about prejudice using elephants

Dear Netters:

A teacher friend of mine is trying to locate a copy of a children's 
book she read about prejudice.  There were white elephants and black 
elephants who fought because of their different colours. Some of the 
black and white elephants didn't want to fight and went off into the 
bush. Many years later they returned and they were all grey. Ironically 
it ends with these elephants starting to have disagreements because 
they were comparing their ears.

She thinks that the title was Black and White but I've searched on that 
and come up empty. Does anyone know this book?
