Are you talking about in the MARC record itself? Is it an 856 field? This is the Electronic Location field. URLs can be placed here and accessed directly from the record on the patron screen. The u you see is actually the subfield code--u is for URL. 856 u http://www.loc.gov as an example. Perhaps the u is running into the http?? This is a very handy field for putting in author websites, etc. If you go to Follett's Tag of the Month site, you can see how to use it, and the other subfields that can be used, too. Lee D.
