DEALING FOR DRAGONS
WESTING GAME

Louis Sachar books seriew of Wayside school...they are hilarious!

Other books I loved to read with my students at this age level are Loser,
The Lemony Snicket's series is another wonderful one-lots of rich vocabulary
and description, Island of the Blue Dolphins-then compare it to Abel's
Island, Bridge to Terabithia, and last but not leaset, There's a Boy in the
Girl's Bathroom (my favorite)

I had a successful experience with Among the Hidden, by Margaret Peterson
Haddix. You could also try other books by her, such as Running Out of Time.

I'm rereading Roll of thunder, Hear my cry.

Coraline
(Gaiman), Kensuke's Kingdom (Morpurgo), Skeleton Man (Buchac), The Beloved
Dearly (Cooney), Runt (author?), Running Out of Time (Haddix), Among the
Hidden (Haddix), Regarding the Fountain (Klise), Hoot (Hiaasen), and Loser
(Spinelli)

Louise Erdrich's BIRCHBARK HOUSE

Axle Galench Series?

The Gate of No Return

or

In Search of Barnsfoggon

City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau and it's sequels People of Sparks and Prophet of
Yonwood (several seggestions to read these)

Hoot
