I originally posted this to the local university's LIS listserv, but I thought I
would post it here
as well:

I was formerly the media specialist at Crockett Technical High School, a
high school of choice within Detroit Public Schools. I will be moving to a
new position within the school, and therefore there is a vacancy in the
library. If anyone is interested in applying, please send your resume to me
as a PDF or Word document, and I will forward it to my principal. Please do
not call the school regarding the position. If you have any questions,
contact me via email. I check it at least once a day. Below is some info
about the school and the position.

Crockett HS is grades 9-12. We are located on Detroit's east side, west of
Van Dyke and north of I-94. We are a school of choice, which means that
students apply to our school. While they attend Crockett, they receive both
academic and vocational courses (They attend Crockett Vocational Center for
this.) The vocational classes include allied health, desgin technology,
cosmeotology, and the new Digital Learning Community (an Apple Partnership).
We have really great kids who are a pleasure to work with.

We just moved into a new building for the 2005-2006 school year. The
building was formerly a middle school, so the library is very small compared
to most high school libraries. There will only be one librarian and no
aides (except students if you so choose). This may be unusual for a high
school, but due to the size of the library and the size of the school (only
800 kids) it is not overwhelming. As I said, I will still be in the school
in an administrative position, so I will be around if the person hired has
questions or whatever. With that being said, please don't think that I will
be one of those people who thinks they still run the library :).

The pay is competitive and the benefits are great. I know I could say much
more, but that the gist of it. I do know my principal would prefer someone
who already has their MLIS and a teaching certificate, but if you are
close to finishing and are interested, it wouldn't hurt to send your resume
either. She can decide from there.

Any resumes sent to me by July 20 will be submitted on July 21. I will be
out of town July 23-30, so anything sent during this time will be submitted
after I return.
