I am putting together a presentation for the NCTE conference in November 2006 and need the input of as many librarians/teachers/book people as possible. My topic is age appropriate books for children reading either significantly above or below grade level. Please take a few minutes and compile a short list of books that appeal to gifted and struggling readers. I’m especially interested in recent titles, ones that go beyond ‘the classics’ or ‘high-low.’ I’ll be glad to compile a HIT as well as a link to my presentation when it’s finished. For example: Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen Reading Level: High School Age Appropriate For: Middle School, Sophisticated Intermediate Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, J.K. Rowling Reading Level: Intermediate Age Appropriate For: Middle School, High School If you are willing to pass on my request and contact information to colleagues, that would also be appreciated.
