Our district grant writer informed us that we received the federal Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Grant. The district award is $300,000. My slice is $30,000. I was shocked that we got it since we are a high school district and most of the money had been going to elementary schools. This is the second time we have applied. The grant writer used the reviewers' comments to modify last year's rejected application and did a great job. What a great way to start off the school year. -- ---- Tony Doyle, Librarian Livingston High School, Livingston, CA tdoyle@muhsd.k12.ca.us <Http://www.lhs.muhsd.k12.ca.us/library/index.htm> "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."-- Ray Bradbury "One of the standard problems with the universe is that it's large enough that unlikely things happen pretty often."--Nigel Sharp, U.S. National Science Foundation -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
