This is a fairly insignificant request, but I'm trying to find a quote about libraries that I thought I'd read here. It was something about how a civilization or society can be judged by the way it treats its libraries, possibly by Franklin (or even Teddy) Roosevelt?? Or maybe it was Madonna or Michael Jackson for all I can remember. Sorry to be so vague. I have searched Bartlett's and several online sources, finding whole websites devoted to quotes about libraries and reading. But since I don't remember the wording or the author, I don't have any good keywords with which to search. I'm hoping someone out there has a brain less softened by the heat than mine, and I'm making this request as part of a promise to myself and to all that I will do my part this year to advocate for school libraries. If I can find the quote, it will be my mantra for the coming year.
