Dear LM Netters,
I have received several responses to my question about after school program
ideas for Grades 6-8. I will post in a HIT in a couple of days since I
want to be sure I have received all responses. One idea I like is to read
books that have been made into movies, then watch the movie and compare. I
can think of three off the top of my head that would be good for this age
group:
Holes
Tuck Everlasting
Ella Enchanted

Any other suggestions?

I have also considered reading various versions of fairy tales and then
watching the Disney versions. Do you think this is too advanced for this
age group? I realize some versions of the fairy tales are pretty
gruesome/explicit and I think I need to be careful in choosing. But, if the
original isn't too gruesome/explicit, do you think that this would be a good
lesson for grades 6-8?

Thanks in advance for responses!
