Apparently there is a wealth of information available on children's book awards!

Many of you responded with great suggestions and it seems like I received even more
responses saying "Please post a hit with this information!". So here goes:

a.. The Tomas Rivera award for Mexican-American literature! Information can be
  located at http://www.education.txstate.edu/subpages/tomasrivera/
b.. You might be interested in checking out the Linworth books on book awards.
We have several including one on Ethnic Book Awards, and State Awards. If
you don't have the catalog, go to our web site, www.linworth.com
c.. This is the children's lit awards page the my library maintains:
http://www.washburn.edu/mabee/crc/courses/ED325/ed325.html#Children%27s%20Literature%20Awards
d.. This page lists National Awards, State Reading Lists and Special Interest
lists. The titles are all cataloged and give reading and interest levels:
http://www.quizlistinteractive.com/AcceleratedReader_BookLists.aspx
e.. Novelist lists award-winning books and is a great resource in general for
information on fiction books, but does involve a fee. I think that some states
will offer school libraries a better rate....for example I think it is $100 a yr.
for elem./middle schools, but must be paid per building.

Now, here are a few I found on my own...

a.. The ALA Awards lists several accredited awards and descriptions:
http://www.ala.org/Template.cfm?Section=bookmediaawards
b.. DAWCL or Database of Award-Winning Children's Literature is also a great
resource: http://www.dawcl.com/
  c.. http://www.ucalgary.ca/~dkbrown/awards.html

  d.. http://bccb.lis.uiuc.edu/awards05.html

A Few Books...

a.. Marks, Diana F. (2006). Children's Book Award Handbook. Westport, CT:
Libraries Unlimited.
b.. Smith, Laura. (1992). Children's Book Awards International: A Directory of
Awards and Winners, from Inception Through 1990. Jefferson, NC: McFarland & Company.
c.. Jones, Dolores Blythe. (1994). Children's Literature Awards and Winners: A
Directory of Prizes, Authors, and Illustrators. Farmington Hills, MI: Thomson Gale.

Again, thanks to all of you who contributed information to this question.

Sincerely,

Katie Monroe
