i think the most disturbing part of your "vent" is the fact that your principal is willing to get "someone". Exactly who is this someone and can i borrow them??? and what are you - chopped liver! It is not that you can't do the cataloging it is that it is an enormous undertaking. i feel your pain! i have a teacher who wants me to have bake sales next year so that i can buy more books for her kids to check out. however, the same teacher is not willing to help get students to return the books that are checked out from the library. that would save me more money than i could ever make from a bake sale!! One charming parent wants to hit the local Goodwill to buy children's books for the library!. Now, not that I don't do that myself for replacement copies of popular fiction, but...large scale, no. I explained to the principal all would have to be cataloged. "We could get someone." "No, not just 'someone' but a credentialed someone." Apparently she is working with several other schools in St. Paul as well as Rondo. Why don't we just get a budget to buy books?!
