[LM_NET] Target: digital/video camera advice

Dear LM Net friends:

Help!  I need your advice.  My husband and I are expecting our first child
and we are interested in purchasing either a digital camera or a video
camera.

We would like to share our photos with friends and family but we also want
something that will record all the little miracles on video (or DVD).  We
have been told that some video cameras also take digital photos but that
the quality is not very good.  We want to make a purchase that will last
us for several years.  Will we need to make two separate purchases or is
it possible to get what we need in one camera?

I would appreciate any advice you can give and will gladly post a hit if
anyone is interested.
