There are several on your list that I heartily enjoyed (Alaska, Shattering Glass, both fabulous) but I can't count them because I've read them in prior years, or am looking forward (Peeps) to next year. But, after looking over my list of books read this year (60 and counting), I am discourage to report that *none* of them thrilled me this year. So, in the interests of perversity, let's talk the best *and* the worst! My pick for the worst: Godless. Sorry, can't agree with the National Book Award for this story. Sure, it has a hot-topic theme, but the one-dimensional characters really turned me off. Invisible was way better. Here's my page of realistic fiction reviews: http://www.dallas.k12.or.us/DHS_Library/web/real.htm Were there any books you would recommend steering clear of?
