I will be a brand new librarian in an elementary school next year after 11 of teaching junior high reading. I need some advice on videos/dvds and copyright. After reading Carol Simpson's COPYRIGHT FOR SCHOOLS, I know that showing videos for "rainy day recess" is in violation of copyright. What if other librarians in the district suggested that I buy some videos for just this purpose? My principal hasn't directly told me to purchase videos for this same purpose, but I have the feeling she would approve of rainy day videos being shown. Have any of you refused to have videos of "non-educational" value in your library? How did it go over with the principal and teachers? Thanks, Georgena Watson, librarian Valley Ranch Elementary Porter, Texas 77365 georgena_w@netzero.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
