I'm working on a project for my incoming high school freshmen and was curious if there were any college courses (aside from the tech courses) that are now providing instruction in podcasting, blogging, etc., as a part of the curriculum? My job is to prepare our students to what they might see once they reach college, and each year I find that the students are more likely to be aware of the product / technology (which makes it easier and more fun to teach), while their classroom teachers stare in wonderment at what we are doing....this year, I think I'll also be preparing information to teach their teachers. I know many LIS graduate courses have been teaching PowerPoint, equipment usage, HTML and "the Internet" since the mid '90's and I'm assuming that many education courses are also incorporating these types of technology instruction into their coursework; however, as technology advances and more pieces of equipment are introduced to the field, are future teachers and librarians being taught how to use these technologies AND apply them in their regular course instruction or is this more "on the job training" for educators? If you're involved in a graduate class (or are teaching a course) that uses a new technology (either online or via a piece of equipment), would you let me know? Thanks! ~Shonda -- Shonda Brisco, MLIS Technology Librarian Fort Worth Country Day School Fort Worth, TX 76109 sbrisco@gmail.com http://www.fwcds.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
