I am looking for the history of certain hymns-some are traditional and some
are contemporary. I want to know why they were written. Was it based on the
writer's experience or a scripture? What is the story behind the hymn?

Here is the list of songs:

Here I am to Worship Written by Tim Hughes
Lord I lift your name on high Words and Music by Rick Founds
You are my all in all Dennis Jernigan, 1991
Shine Jesus Shine Graham Kendrick Copyright © 1987
Cry of my heart Terry Butler
Over my head Text: African American Spiritual Music: African American
Spiritual

When in our music God is glorified Words: Fred Pratt Green
Here I am Lord Words and Music by Daniel L Schutte
Hymn of Promise by Natalie A. Sleeth
O for a thousand tongues by Charles Wesley
Old Rugged Cross by George Bennard
Great is thy faithfulness by Thomas Obediah Chisholm
Precious Lord, take my hand words by Thomas Andrew Dorsey

Thanks in advance for a list of sources or any information you can give.
