A fifth grade teacher in my building is going to work with 6th and 7th grade gifted students next year in the Middle School. Here is her request: "I am looking for books for high ability 6th and 7th graders. I would love to use some contemporary authors and some more classical ones too. I would probably be using it for examining symbolism as well as how the author's time period effected what was written. I know that 6th grade social studies is going to be focusing on the Eastern Hemisphere- so ties to Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia would probably be done at some time as well. I have heard them talk specifically about Asia-- it's being written this summer." Thanks for your help.
