I think the constant News Alerts are slowing down my computer, and I want to disable this particular gadget. On my XP machine, I am having trouble following the directions for removing Alerts from Google Desktop 4.0. When I do step 2 of Google's directions below, I do not see what I am supposed to see. Instead of accessing the various Alerts, my "Owners" folder opens, revealing the various folders stored there.... Has anybody successfully disabled some of the Alerts in Google Desktop? If you had the same problem I am having, what did you do? Here are the Google directions.... USING GOOGLE DESKTOP 4.0: 1. Click on "Options" button in the top-right corner of the Sidebar. 2. Select "Configure gadgets." 3. Un-check the "Enable alerts" box next to the panel you'd like to disable. 4. Click the "X" in the top-right corner to close the dialog window and apply the changes. -- Gordon Walter Retired AGWSR School Librarian 101 Hilltop Drive Ackley, Iowa 50601 Tel: 641-847-3315 Email: gordonwalter@mchsi.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
