Hello Everyone, I am new to LM-NET but have been an elementary school librarian for seven years. I have a question concerning guided reading libraries being tracked through the school library. Our superintendent wants the guided reading lab to be located inside the library and items to be checked out through the library's automated system. As a result I am in the process of hand cataloging the guided reading library (an immense job in itself) as well as trying to find enough space for it within the library. The principal wants the teachers to have 24-7 access to this lab which would also allow them access to the general collection. I am concerned about losses, lack of space for future growth, possible student access etc. I am wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this and would be willing to share the pros and cons of having a guided reading lab inside the library. I would appreciate any ideas you have and will post any answers I receive.
